Dillco, Inc. is offering for sale an 8,000 to 14,000 foot hydraulic, fully remote controlled drilling rig that could be reactivated for less than many conventional rigs can be rebuilt.  Two rigs of this type were active from 1969 through 1974 and the HH-5 was rebuilt in 1996.  As part of the rebuilding process, the rig’s control functions have been totally converted from solid state electronics to PC controllers.  The Walker-Neer Apache and Elenburg two-man rigs and the two National Supply deep rigs were built using the same patented pipe transfer systems of this rig.  The twenty-six Apache and Elenburg rigs are currently working in West Texas and The Rockies.  The HH-5 rig is currently stacked in Brady, Texas, where it was being prepared to enter Heartland Rig Industries rig line of equipment.
Two rigs were operated by a two-man crew during their four years of drilling activity in West Texas and California.  Crewmen did not actually need to be on the rig floor or near the working equipment for most of the rig’s operations, including tripping pipe and drilling ahead.  Consequently, this design offered an extremely safe working environment with a very minimal number of rig personnel.
The rig is powered by four Vickers-120 hydraulic pumps which are driven by CAT D-343 400 HP engines.  Consideration could be given to converting the power system to AC motor driven hydraulic pumps.  The HH-5 rig package does not include the mud pumps or mud system.  The mast, drill head and 47’ stroke hoisting cylinders are also available from the HH-5’s sister rig.
Dillco, Inc. will consider an “as is, where is” cash offer or alternatively, an equity investment position with a contractual agreement which dictates commercial use on a timely basis with Dillco, Inc., retaining the rig as collateral.
